St Austell & Newquay Constituency Labour Party Annual General Meeting
This is the most important meeting that we hold as an organisation when the Executive Committee and other Officers (who provide a strategic lead for the development of the Party in the constituency) are elected and as such there are certain procedures that have to be followed. While, in one sense, these might be seen as boring or red tape, it is important that the process is understood and that it is open and clear. Plus we are a member-led Party and this is your chance to get involved and have your say. This year will be the first time that this meeting is held online using Anonyvote hence the request to submit expressions of interest before 31st October which will then be available to members to see prior to the AGM on 19th November. The idea of this page is to explain some of the processes and give you more information about the roles as we hope that you will think about standing for election.
The Executive Committee
There are sixteen possible posts but this six are the critical roles - click on the links below for more details
Other Officer positions are part of the Executive Committee include Campaign Co-ordinator, Social Media Comms & IT Officer, Youth Officer, Disability Officer, Policy Officer, Trade Union Liaison and two new posts of Business Officer & Rural Affairs Officer. More details are available on the Labour Party website and you can see which additional posts we have this year and who holds them here on our own website. None of these roles work in isolation and we all support each other. If you are interested in sharing a role please just let us know and if you want more information about an individual post and how it works here in StAN, please just contact the current role holder.
Standing for election & voting at the AGM
Full Members who joined more than 8 weeks prior to the AGM can vote at the AGM. If you are an affiliiate member or registered supporter or you have joined very recently, you are very welcome to attend the AGM (please do) but unfortunately, you won't be able to vote under Labour Party rules.
The Women's Officer must be female and 50% of our Executive Committee must be female.
If you are interested in standing for any of the posts, but would like more information then please contact Felicity for an informal chat on 07719211599 or use the link above to email her any questions.
If you are ready to stand, please use the form opposite to send details to me as CLP Secretary by 31st October, ideally with the name of a proposer & seconder who must also be members or affiliated members.
If you are not yet sure, we will be taking nominations on the night but registering your interest now gives you the opportunity to say why you are interested in the role which can be added to the page here to give everyone a chance to find out about you before the night.
Felcity Owen, CLP Secretary
