About Me

Picture

I have lived in St Austell for nineteen years.  For most of my adult life I worked as a teacher and lecturer.  Most recently I was Chairman of a Cornish education trust.

I have represented the Bethel ward on St Austell Town Council since 2009.  I represented Bethel on Cornwall Council from 2009 to 2013.  I have served as a councillor and a school governor for over eighteen years, including terms at Penrice, Bishop Bronescombe and Charlestown schools.

I am currently the chairman of the Planning and Regeneration Committee on St Austell Town Council.  I was the Mayor of St Austell in 2018/19.  I have been a trustee of the St Austell Old  Peoples Welfare Committee and am very proud to be have been secretary and chairman of St Austell Rugby Club.

My pledges to you
Anti-social behaviour has blighted St Austell recently. While Cornwall Council has worked with the Police and others to reduce the instances, the measures have been temporary. We need them to be permanent and effective.
My Pledge
I will work with the Police, the Councils and others to help eradicate anti-social behaviour in St Austell

The field behind Killyvarder Way is possibly earmarked for housing development. It is one of the few remaining green spaces in the area, and it is not in Cornwall Council's local plan.
My Pledge
I will oppose any new inappropriate development on this site and will campaign to retain it as a green space

It is more difficult than ever for young people to get onto the property ladder due to low wages and ever rising prices.
My Pledge
I will campaign to ensure that new local developments provide a greater proportion of genuinely affordable housing, and Cornwall Council expands its own provision of affordable houses to rent or buy
