The Executive Committee Submissions
Local Business Co-ordinator - Helen Bardle seconded Felicity Owen
I have spent most of my working life advising very small businesses. There are approx 5.9 million businesses in the UK, 5.7 million of which are micro-businesses, employing fewer than 10 people. These businesses are local people, employing other local people, embedded in their communities and paying their taxes. Labour has not always addressed itself to the small business community, but I sense that is beginning to change. If Labour's intention is to revitalise local communities to provide opportunities for all, small businesses need to be included in the debate. I am a member of St Austell Chamber of Commerce and will work with local organisations and other CLPs to provide a communication channel between the CLP and the small business community in the constituency.

LGBTQ+ - Ste Hick

Rural Affairs Co-ordinator - Mandy-Jayne Gregory
Having lived in a rural area most of my life and being a farmers wife. I think this role is very important.  More than often rural people get overlooked so often they have their own unique set of issues.. Country folk can be quite proud and private and struggle to ask and and accept help..  Working and living in the countryside can be challenging with bad Internet, no public transport and no close to home jobs. Post offices and banks have closed. People are expected to attend job centres with no way of getting there. There is also the issue of tied housing which can be damp and often unsuitable. I've heard cases of people living in condemned homes.  I really think that thus role is important to us as CLP as a lot of our members live in rural communities.

Social Media Comms - Ste Hick
St Austell and Newquay Constituency Labour Party

Ste Hick proposal for Communications and Social Media Officer and role undertakings.

I have proposed myself to continue in role as communications social media officer, after what can only be described as a peculiar year impacted by both the pandemic and local elections I’d like to start building the role to what it should be; namely a role that develops internal and external communications to work toward electoral success and greater political influence in our constituency as well as contributing to the same regionally and nationally.

I have been in contact with C & SM officers from several different CLPs discussing good practice and policy and would like to implement the following outline plan that includes key responsibilities and aims, I would like to see this become CLP policy to sit alongside Labour Party policy if I continue in post and would propose it (allowing time for modifications) if possible in November 2021 AMM.  Click here to see the details

Trade Union Liaison Officer - Brian Kelly proposed Kay Ecclestone
TULO  Candidate Personal statement 2021:
My name is Brian Kelly and I am the current St Austell and Newquay Constituency Labour Party (CLP) Trade Union Liaison Officer (TULO) and have held this position for the last 2 years.
Background: 26 years as Branch Secretary of a NUPE/UNISON Local Government  Branch. Staff Side Secretary, negotiating on behalf of  all Unions in respects of 6 thousand Local Government staff.
UNISON: Local Government National Executive Council. (NEC).
27 years working in a County/Unitary Local Authority’s, working in Learning Disability, Older People’s and Community Mental health Services.
I currently work as a Unite regional officer/ case manager, providing support and representation across Cornwall and the South West.

I view the primary function of the Trade Union Liaison Officer (TULO) to be to establish and maintain the link between the CLP, Labour and Trade Union branches.
To offer our support and assistance in their campaigns and support both individually and collectively Trade Union members and their Branches to achieve the best outcomes in their workplace struggles.

Women's Officer - Mandy-Jayne Gregory
I have been the CLPs women's officer for the past few years and have really enjoyed my role.  I'd very much like to stand again although not actively done as much as I would like due to  COCVID restrictions. I'd like to carry on with the role and look at ways of helping women especially those who face the loneliness of working from home.   I enjoy attending the meetings and speaking with members on all levels..   I also very much welcome a role share if someone else is willing to take on the role.

Youth Officer - Owain Fitzsimmons proposed by Felicity Owen seconded by Kay Ecclestone
I'm Owain and I'm running to be your Youth Officer again. Over the last year, I have taken the initiative and delivered on last year's promises. As well as this I have spearheaded the creation of Cornwall Young Labour, to which I was elected Chair. With this, and a strong network of young people throughout the South West, we can push for more for Young People. That is why I stand this time and why I stood last time: to make sure that young people get a good bargain. This time, I have even more ways to do this. That is why I think you should elect me again: I can make sure that Young people get a good deal.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and feel free to email me any Questions via the CLP email but marked for my attention  (staustell.newquay.clp@gmail.com)
