.When Theresa May announced a snap general election to be held on Thursday 8th June, all the political pundits and the polls were forecasting a gain of 100 plus seats for the Conservatives and major losses for Labour. They did not count on Labour's 100s of thousands of new members hitting the streets and getting involved, many for the first time. From the launch of our campaign with our Parliamentary Candidate, Kevin Neil, on Thursday 11th May to Polling Day 28 days later we ran a campaign that included a street stall in both St Austell & Newquay every Saturday (and on Bank Holiday Monday in Newquay), 3 Hustings events and hand delivering over 35,000 leaflets.
Although we didn't win the seat, we pushed the Liberal Democrat candidate into third place and increased our vote share by 18.8%. |
