Jeremy Preece - Vice Chair Membership.

Picture
I am Jeremy Preece, a 61 year old who used to design and deliver training, including e-learning and have worked for government departments, civil aviation, medical sector, finance and military. We moved to St Austell in 2018.
I have been an active Labour Party member since joining ten years ago. I have been involved in many election campaigns, sometimes as a candidate. In Aldershot, I ousted a Tory to become Labour Councillor at Rushmoor Borough Council 2014 to May 2018.
We moved to St Austell back in 2018 and I soon discovered just how much Cornwall needs our Labour Party. I am keen to do what I can, so I am standing in the 2021 Cornwall elections. I am also really pleased to have been voted onto our CLP executive as Vice Chair Membership.

Our county has its own severe problems such as some of the worst poverty in the UK, second homes pricing local people out of housing and young people not being able to afford to live here. Then there is the negative effect of tourism and seasonal employment.  There is a shortage of healthcare in a place where the ageing local population needs more not less healthcare. This is on top of the UK’s national problems of homelessness, increased drug-related issues and the effects of Tory austerity with all the problems that brings.

Just as Cornwall really needs our Labour Party, so our Labour Party really needs you: As Vice Chair for Membership, I hope to be able to welcome more of you as new and re-joining members.
