Looking Left with St Austell & Newquay Labour

This is a group for left wing people interested in getting together to socialise and raise funds through a range of activities such as videos, talks, dramas, and the like.   In order to show films we have a MPLC umbrella licence which has the following restrictions.
  •  No charge may be made directly to view the film. We can however charge for refreshments, for example, as an alternative way of raising funds.
  • The title of the film cannot be advertised to the general public.
  • The MPLC Umbrella Licence cannot cover film clubs/societies or community cinemas or any organisation where film screenings is the main focus of the business.
  • The MPLC cannot cover outdoor screenings.

Any profits from events organised by the St Austell & Newquay Constituency Labour Party will be donated to StAN CLP.  However, members of the group can also organise events for other local Labour Parties, including the showing of videos under the umbrella licence, and thus raise their own funds by sharing details with other group members.

To join, please complete the membership form below and we will send you regular emails to keep you up to date with events.  There is also a closed Facebook group where we can all meet online, share ideas for events and advertise what is happening.
You do not need to be a Labour Party member to join the group.  Members are welcome to bring family and friends to events but please remember that any film events must not be advertised outside the group.  So please do not share publicly on Facebook or on community notice boards etc.  This advertising restriction would only apply to films.  For other events, the usual procedures would have to be followed if appropriate, eg obtaining a Temporary Event Notice for events where alcohol is to be served.  The intention is that this group will benefit all local CLPs, not just St Austell and Newquay and there will be activities across Cornwall for members & guests to attend.
