Sally Carter -
our candidate for
St Austell Town Council, Gover Ward

Picture
Hello,

My name is Sally Carter, standing for election to St Austell Town Council, Gover Ward, representing the Labour Party.

I care deeply about this area.  I lived in Ledrah Gardens for most of my childhood and was educated in St Austell.  I am married to a Cornishman, and we raised our three children at our family home of 29 years in Trenance Road.  We have now downsized to Trewhiddle, but Gover will always feel like home.

Local issues I will campaign on include:

  • Support for NHS facilities, surgeries and hospitals
  • Provision of genuinely affordable housing in our area
  • Balancing housing needs with delivery of adequate infrastructure such as roads, schools and services – while maintaining the overall character of St Austell
  • Supporting multi-agency efforts to tackle social problems in the town
  • Supporting our local library, arts and leisure facilities
  • Tackling problems of low pay and insecure jobs

There are two candidates in this by-election – one Labour and one Conservative.  In the general election Kevin Neil tripled the Labour vote in St Austell and Newquay, pushing the Liberal Democrats into third place.  Having stood in the May local elections, I now firmly believe I can win this seat.

Labour promises to treat all people fairly and with respect, and to give them a real say in their local communities - and so do I.

I will visit as many voters as possible over the coming weeks and I hope we may meet before the election on 26th October.  If not, and you would like to get in touch, my email is Sallycarter7@aol.com.  I am also on FaceBook:  https://www.facebook.com/sallycarterstaustellcandidate/

Thank you for your support and for reading this.

Yours,

Sally Carter
