Prior to this round of elections, the Constituency Labour Parties (CLPs) across the country had no formal role in the nomination of candidates for Leader or Deputy Leader. The change was introduced under Jeremy Corbyn's Leadership and his wish for increased democracy of the Labour Party and for greater involvement of the members. So this is the first time that we have been able to be involved at this stage so it was important that we played our role and had our say.
