I am currently a unitary councillor on Cornwall Council. I have taught in a secondary school and worked as a solicitor for trade union members with employment law cases and workplace injuries. On the council I have been instrumental in passing a motion committing the council to take action on climate change and a budget amendment making a £3.5 million investment in children’s mental health provision.
I stood for Parliament in Truro and Falmouth Constituency in the June 2017 General Election where we tripled the Labour vote and achieved the biggest swing to Labour that did not result in a Labour MP. I have lived in Cornwall for 13 years with my son who is at secondary school here. Cornwall continues to struggle with lower wages than the UK average and higher house prices. EU investment here is vital going forwards. I fight as a unitary councillor for fairer funding for Cornwall from our national government and I want to provide a strong voice for Cornwall and the Southwest at the European Parliament.
